We brought Drew in to the doctor yesterday for his belly button issues. We finally got to meet his doctor, she is great! So 2/3 of them we like (the one we didn't like should probably be retired, he told us to make sure Drew wore a helmet when he rode his bike...what?). She put more silver nitrate on his belly, it is still oozing gross stuff. She thinks its a umbilical granuloma Hopefully it is not a fistula. She also gave us erythromycin for his boogy eyes. The directions to use are as follows: "After using the ointment, gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1-2 minutes". Can you imagine??? OK Drew, now gently close your eyes, no squeezing them shut, now keep them that way for 1-2 minutes. What?? So here is the monkey part...Drew has DOUBLE SIMIAN CREASES! The name refers to monkey or ape. I too have one, so maybe he gets it from me. But Dr. Benson doesn't think it has clinical significance because his facial features are so normal looking and she doesn't hear anything abnormal with his heart (often it is associated with heart defects too, in addition to a laundry list of horrid congenital diseases). So, rather then focusing on the horrid diseases, I decided to look into palmistry. Much for fun. Here is a blurb from a blog I found:

I wonder if that is why our prenatal tests came back with increase incidence of Downs? Dr. Benson thinks the crease is caused by a chromosome defect close to the one the causes Downs.
